Our Home Is in Heaven
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20
It is so easy to live as though this life is everything.
We become consumed with what is happening right now... our appearance, success, disappointments, what people think of us, and more! As dancers, it can be especially easy to place so much weight on the next competition, audition, or correction.
But Philippians 3:20 reminds us of something that completely shifts our perspective:
This world is not our home.
Our citizenship is in heaven.
When we belong to Jesus, our identity is rooted somewhere far greater than anything this world can give or take away. What this world has to offer is all temporary.
But Jesus is eternal.
When we truly understand that, we begin to live differently.
Instead of allowing comparison to consume us, we remember that our worth has already been established in Christ. Instead of letting one disappointment feel like the end of our story, we remember that our greatest hope was never supposed to be found here.
You can still dream big, work hard & dance beautifully as you pursue the gifts God has given you.
but...
Your greatest purpose is not to build the most impressive life on earth.
It is to know Jesus & glorify Him with the life you have been given!
So when this world feels overwhelming or
when comparison begins stealing your joy or
when success starts becoming more important than Jesus...
Remind yourself:
You are living here, but you belong to Him. And your forever home is with Him.
So try (easier said than done) not to take life so seriously because our forever home and true citizenship as children of God is in HEAVEN!
Pause & Reflect
Am I living primarily for what people can see now, or for what will matter in eternity?
How can I use the gifts God has given me to point someone toward Jesus this week?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for reminding me that this world is not my home. When I become distracted by success, comparison, recognition, or things that will eventually fade, turn my eyes back to You. May I always remember my citizenship is in Heaven. Help me live with eternity in my heart. May the way I dance, speak, love, and live point others toward You. Let my greatest desire always be to know You more and glorify You with the life You have given me. Amen.
